Despite stepping down amid heavy criticism and leadership doubts, former President Joe Biden says he\u2019s still being sought out by global leaders, including European heads of state, for advice.<\/p>\n
At the Society for Human Resource Management convention in San Diego, Biden surprised attendees by claiming he remains an informal advisor. \u201cI\u2019m getting calls\u2026 from a number of European leaders asking me to get engaged,\u201d he told SHRM President Johnny Taylor. \u201cI\u2019m not [getting involved], but I\u2019m giving advice.\u201d<\/p>\n
A clip shared by Democratic strategist Chris Jackson shows Biden speaking in a subdued, sometimes halting tone, occasionally shifting to impassioned remarks. \u201cIf America doesn\u2019t lead the world, who can?\u201d he asked. He also said lawmakers from both parties consult him: \u201cNot because they think I have the answer, just to bounce things off me.\u201d<\/p>\n
Oddly, he added, \u201cI\u2019m also laying rubber with my \u201967 Corvette on my driveway,\u201d a comment critics called out-of-touch.<\/p>\n
Biden\u2019s presidency ended amid rising inflation, border struggles, and intra-party pressure, leading him not to seek re-election. His administration also faced controversies, including the impeachment of DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, scandals involving his son Hunter, and scrutiny over preemptive pardons and autopen signature use.<\/p>\n
