For those standing just feet behind Charlie Kirk, his final act may have saved their lives.<\/p>\n

Thousands gathered yesterday at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, to honor Kirk, remembered as a \u201cgiant of his generation.\u201d President Trump, Vice President JD Vance, and Kirk\u2019s widow Erika all paid tribute. Trump called America \u201ca nation in shock and mourning.\u201d Vance said Kirk \u201cchanged the course of history.\u201d But it was Erika\u2019s emotional plea to \u201cchoose Christ\u201d \u2014 and her public forgiveness of the shooter \u2014 that brought the crowd to its feet.<\/p>\n

A WWII-era rifle, nearly untraceable<\/strong><\/p>\n

Kirk, 31, was shot on September 10 during a Turning Point USA event at Utah Valley University. Authorities say the weapon was a Mauser Model 98 .30-06, a German WWII rifle. It may predate the 1968 law requiring serial numbers, making it difficult to trace. The ATF says it’s rare for this type of gun to be used in crimes.<\/p>\n

\u201cCharlie\u2019s body stopped it.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

Doctors were stunned the high-powered bullet didn\u2019t exit Kirk\u2019s neck. TPUSA\u2019s Andrew Kolvet said a surgeon told him the round should have gone clean through \u2014 and possibly hit others nearby \u2014 but Kirk\u2019s dense bone structure may have stopped it.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was an absolute miracle someone else wasn\u2019t killed,\u201d the doctor said. The coroner later found the bullet just beneath Kirk\u2019s skin.<\/p>\n

\u201cEven in death, Charlie saved others.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

The FBI arrested suspect Tyler Robinson after his father turned him in. But Robinson\u2019s grandmother claims he\u2019s innocent, saying, \u201cHe doesn\u2019t even like guns\u2026 there\u2019s no way he could be that good of a shot.\u201d<\/p>\n
