At a state banquet attended by figures like Tim Cook, Rupert Murdoch, and Sam Altman, Trump told reporters aboard Air Force One:<br data-start=\"571\" data-end=\"574\" \/>\u201cI asked that he [Khan] not be there. He wanted to be there, I didn\u2019t want him.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"656\" data-end=\"833\">However, the BBC reported Khan neither sought nor expected an invite. Trump called him \u201cone of the worst mayors in the world,\u201d accusing him of mismanaging immigration and crime.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"835\" data-end=\"975\">Khan\u2019s camp responded: \u201cTrump\u2019s politics is rooted in fear and division. London is thriving \u2014 open, dynamic, and safer than many US cities.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"977\" data-end=\"1205\">Their feud dates back to 2015, when Khan criticized Trump\u2019s proposed Muslim travel ban. It escalated over time, including Trump&#8217;s criticism of Khan\u2019s handling of terror attacks and the approval of the &#8220;Trump baby&#8221; blimp in 2019.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1207\" data-end=\"1461\">The animosity persists. As recently as July, Trump called Khan \u201ca nasty person,\u201d prompting PM Keir Starmer to defend the mayor.
