Everyone makes geography mistakes \u2014 but when it\u2019s the U.S. President, the world notices.<\/p>\n
European leaders recently had a laugh at Donald Trump\u2019s latest slip-ups. From calling Hungary \u201cnext to Russia\u201d and confusing its leader with Turkey\u2019s president, to claiming Greenland should be American, Trump\u2019s geography gaffes are nothing new.<\/p>\n
A few months ago, he vaguely remarked, \u201cmany people come from the Congo,\u201d without knowing where it was. He also once said, \u201cWe\u2019re going to Russia,\u201d before a meeting that actually happened in Alaska.<\/p>\n
His most recent mix-up? On Fox News, Trump took credit for brokering peace between Azerbaijan and Albania<\/em> \u2014 two countries that aren\u2019t at war and aren\u2019t even near each other.<\/p>\n At a summit in Copenhagen on October 2, Albanian PM Edi Rama joked with French President Emmanuel Macron and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev: \u201cYou didn\u2019t congratulate us on the peace deal Trump made between Albania and Azerbaijan.\u201d Macron laughed, replying: \u201cI\u2019m sorry for that.\u201d<\/p>\n In reality, Trump did help facilitate a deal between Azerbaijan and Armenia in August \u2014 though it remains unsigned. Still, Trump called it a personal triumph, even recalling how the leaders \u201chugged each other\u201d in the Oval Office.<\/p>\n Yet during another press conference, he again referred to \u201cAber-baijan and Albania,\u201d keeping the confusion alive.<\/p>\n
