Known for her powerhouse vocals and heartfelt performances, she also sang with top forr\u00f3 bands like Forr\u00f3 do Mu\u00eddo and Capim com Mel.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"603\" data-end=\"830\">Her final concert in Brazil took place in April at the Playlist Festival in Olinda, followed by a last performance in June 2025 at a Saint John\u2019s Day event in Florida, where she lived with her American husband, Joe Ridenhour.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"832\" data-end=\"1175\">Vanessa first battled sarcoma in 2019 and celebrated recovery, but in 2023 she was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive lung cancer. Despite the pain, she continued to perform, inspiring fans with her strength and optimism. In her final Instagram post, she wrote: <em data-start=\"1096\" data-end=\"1173\">\u201cIt\u2019s not what we have in life, but who we have in our lives that matters.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1177\" data-end=\"1330\">She was cremated on October 28 in her hometown, surrounded by loved ones. She leaves behind her 16-year-old daughter, Larissa, her \u201cgreatest blessing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1332\" data-end=\"1475\">Vanessa Rios\u2019s voice helped define a generation of Brazilian brega and forr\u00f3 music.
