Sharon Stone defends Sydney Sweeney after American Eagle controversy: ‘It’s hard to be hot’

Posted on November 2, 2025 By admin

At the Variety Power of Women LA Event, Sharon Stone had nothing but praise for actress Sydney Sweeney, sharing how the star deserves a lot of credit for her work at this young age.

She defended her American Eagle ad and wondered why so much hate was directed towards her for no good reason.

Sweeney’s campaign with American Eagle featured the slogan, Sydney has great jeans and many took that as an offense that only those with blonde hair and big cleavage were blessed as good-looking looking while others were considered minorities when it came down to looking great, giving the racially themed context.

Stone felt that the star handled all the negativity with grace, and how it’s not easy being hot in this world.

The brand itself defended the campaign, adding that it was always about jeans and nothing else. They emphasized inclusivity, reminding everyone that great jeans look good on everyone.

Stone also praised Sweeney’s confidence and self-awareness. ‘It’s okay to use what your mama gave you. It’s really fine, it’s hard to be hot and I think we all know that so well!’- she continued.
