A Miss Universe executive sparked controversy after berating a contestant during a pre-pageant event.
The incident occurred when Nawat Itsaragrisil, an executive linked to the Miss Universe pageant, publicly scolded Miss Mexico, Fátima Bosch, during a live-streamed speech. Itsaragrisil accused Bosch of skipping a Thailand-themed photoshoot, allegedly under her national director’s orders—an accusation Bosch denied.
Tensions rose as Itsaragrisil called Bosch a “dummy” and interrupted her responses. Bosch stood her ground, saying, “Because I have a voice. You are not respecting me as a woman.” After a heated exchange, Itsaragrisil called for security, prompting other contestants—including current Miss Universe Victoria Kjær Theilvig—to walk out in solidarity.
Miss Bonaire attempted to mediate, urging Itsaragrisil to invite Bosch back. Later, Itsaragrisil apologized on social media, saying he was sorry if anyone felt uncomfortable or affected by the incident.
