California Governor Gavin Newsom has confirmed that he would indeed be attending the major global climate summit that the Trump administration had refused to send representatives to.
Newsom, widely touted as a potential Democratic 2028 presidential candidate, how he would step in as the President stays away from the UN climate conference in Brazil on Friday.

Trump had downplayed the issue of climate change as a con job and has expanded oil and gas production under a ‘drill baby drill’ mantra this term, sources shared.
The COP visit comes just days after Newsom scored a massive victory against Trump as citizens of California overwhelmingly voted to approve measures to redraw the state’s congressional districts to assist Democrats in picking up more House seats in next year’s midterms.

The plans counter similar redistricting carried out by Republicans in the state of Texas. Speaking to media outlets, the California Governor mentioned how he would be using his appearance at these summits to market himself as someone who is fully prepared and capable of attacking Trump from all sides.
He’s making this trip because of the complete abdication of the Trump administration that is joining the Saudis and Russia, and Gulf States, sources mentioned.
