More than one dozen nurses were recently fired and another disciplined at a leading children’s hospital in Washington.
According to reports from local media outlets, the incident arose after a 12-year-old patient lost their life at the facility.

Sarah Niyimbona was said to be a loving, outspoken, and compassionate middle schooler who passed away after slipping out of her room at the Providence Sacred Heart Children’s Hospital in Spokane.
She is believed to have jumped from the fourth floor of the parking garage, as shared in the report.

The victim was admitted to the emergency room several times for attempts to take her life. As per the reports shared, the hospital had removed key safety features, despite the fact that she was known to be a patient who had tried to take her life previously.
This included a round-the-clock sitter, a video monitor, and a door alarm. Her mother says that the hospital is to blame, as the victim should never have been left unattended. She also mentioned how baffling it is to her that she managed to walk all the way towards the elevator without noticing that she was gone from her room.
