Brendon’s mother-in-law, Susan, sees the Christmas gifts under the tree and decides to take away his daughter Eve’s doll to “teach her a lesson” about not always getting what she wants. Brendon, frustrated, decides to teach Susan a lesson in return.
Having just landed a well-paying job, Brendon was excited to spoil his daughter, who had earned it with good grades and helping out at home. But Susan, disapproving of the number of gifts, wanted to limit Eve’s presents, including taking away the doll she had been promised.
Brendon, determined not to let Susan spoil Eve’s Christmas, had bought Susan a designer bag she’d been coveting. Instead of giving it to her, he swapped it with a cheap robe. On Christmas morning, Susan’s excitement turned to shock and disappointment when she opened the gift. Brendon innocently reminded her that sometimes you don’t get what you want, just like she said about Eve.
Afterward, Susan tried to confront him, but Brendon stood firm, pointing out how unfair it was for her to take Eve’s promised gift. The holiday tensions lingered, but Eve had a memorable Christmas, and Brendon had made his point to Susan.
Merry Christmas, Susan.
