Actor Tim Curry is known for iconic roles like Dr. Frank-N-Furter in The Rocky Horror Picture Show, Rooster in Annie, Pennywise in IT, Wadsworth in Clue, and the concierge in Home Alone 2. According to IMDb, he has appeared in 243 film, TV, and voiceover projects.
In recent years, Curry has focused mainly on voice work, especially after a stroke 13 years ago left him partially paralyzed. In a CBS Sunday Morning interview, the 79-year-old reflected on his life, career, and views on death. He said his mother once worried fame would inflate his ego, but he never felt that was a concern.
Discussing his health, Curry said he doesn’t believe in self-pity: “Why are you so important that we have to pity you?” He recalled not realizing anything was wrong during his stroke until his masseuse urged him to seek help. At the hospital, he learned he was having a stroke, underwent brain surgery, and went through rehabilitation to relearn how to speak. He is now paralyzed on his left side.
Curry said he doesn’t fear death, explaining, “I try to avoid it… but I suspect that in the end I will welcome it.”
