Since the tradition began in 1809 with Dolly Madison, the wife of James Madison, the fourth president of the United States, the inaugural ball has become a customary event during presidential inaugurations.

This year, Donald Trump shared a dance with his wife, Melania Trump, to the song “The Battle Hymn of the Republic.”
