Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi, who moved to the U.K. a year ago after Donald Trump was re-elected, are reportedly planning to spend more time back in California. The couple originally settled in the Cotswolds, saying life felt “better” in the U.K. and that they wanted to avoid the U.S. political climate.
However, sources say they now miss their friends, dislike the cold British winters, and Portia wants to return to acting. They’ve told friends they’ll come back to California for the holidays and possibly longer.
Ellen and Portia sold their 43-acre Oxfordshire estate and later moved to a hilltop home with space for horses, as Portia is an avid rider. Despite enjoying the countryside lifestyle, they are now preparing for a temporary return to the U.S.
The couple no longer owns property in America after selling off their real estate portfolio, so it’s unclear where they’ll stay. Their return comes after Ellen’s show ended in 2022 following allegations of a toxic work environment—claims she later described as “misogynistic” and “coordinated.” She also joked about it in her 2024 Netflix special.
