Passengers in Brazil were seen leaving in a state of panic after the plane they were reportedly said to be flying in became engulfed in heavy smoke due to a fire at the airport.
The flight was identified as LA 3418, which was set to depart from Sao Paulo for Porto Alegre when the blaze broke out on the ground on the night of Thursday. A baggage conveyor linked to the plane caught on fire, causing it to fill with smoke, according to media outlets. The jet was said to be carrying 169 passengers at that moment in time.
Shocking footage from the terrifying incident shared on X showed how the plane got engulfed in smoke while being surrounded by flames at the airport. Fire crews were seen rushing on the ground, trying their best to put the fire out. Frantic passengers started to run for their lives, as shown in a recording clip by one witness inside the plane.

They quickly queued up to leave and evacuate urgently at the airport. Fire crew members, police, and ambulances could be seen surrounding the jet as emergency slides for passengers were also rolled out so they could escape the plane.
