Former President Joe Biden suffered an embarrassing gaffe during an LGBTQ rights forum in Washington, DC, when he struggled to pronounce “America” in his speech. The 83-year-old, who frequently stumbled over his words, said: “We are the United States of Amerigotit,” before correcting himself.
Biden was receiving the Chris Abele Impact Award for leading one of the most inclusive administrations in U.S. history. During his remarks, he attacked “MAGA Republicans” for turning LGBTQ rights into something “scary” and “sinister.”
The slip comes as Biden’s age and health continue to draw public attention. In 2024, he dropped out of the presidential race following concerns over his cognitive performance. Earlier this year, he also revealed he had been diagnosed with an aggressive form of prostate cancer.
Since leaving office, Biden has mostly stayed out of the spotlight, making limited public appearances while undergoing treatment.
