Actress Wenne Alton Davis, known for her role in The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, has died at age 60 after being struck by a car in New York City. The accident happened Monday around 9 p.m. as she crossed West 53rd Street and Broadway. She suffered severe head and body trauma and was pronounced dead at Mount Sinai West Hospital.
The 61-year-old driver stayed at the scene and currently faces no charges. Police say the investigation is ongoing.
Davis moved to New York in her 20s to pursue stand-up comedy before transitioning to acting. She also worked at JFK Airport and was known for her kindness and warmth.
Her credits include The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, Blindspot, New Amsterdam, and The Normal Heart.
