At least 15 people were killed, and numerous others were injured after a bus plunged into a deep ravine.
The incident occurred in Guatemala along the intermunicipal route where the bus was traveling. All of a sudden, it veered off the road and fell into a ravine, as per the Associated Press.
The crash took the lives of 15 passengers, and 21 more were said to be receiving treatment for injuries at local hospitals, as per local outlets.
Officials shared more about how the rescue workers needed more than two hours to recover the corpses from the crash site and to rescue injured passengers.
As per Reuters, 11 of the dead victims were men, three were women, and the last was a minor whose gender is yet to be revealed.
The country’s president also reacted to the incident, calling it a regrettable tragedy. He confirmed that they are coordinating all necessary actions to assist those who were affected in this tragedy.
