Six people, including a two-year-old child, were killed in a terrifying shooting incident today at a world-famous tourist hotspot.
The incident reportedly arose in Puerto Lopez, which is a famous beach resort located in southwestern Ecuador. Several men, armed with automatic weapons, opened fire on a group of people inside the city.
The shooters reportedly started their assault at 9 am local time, as confirmed by the police. A girl aged nearly two was among the victims, the regional police commander confirmed to the press. He mentioned how the attack killed six and left three more seriously injured.
He also shared how the attackers fled the scene after carrying out the cowardly shooting. Police are now searching for the suspects, with initial investigations hinting at internal disputes between gangs as the main ones to blame for this tragedy.
