Zohran Mamdani is painting the town red, and he wants people to know it!
The new NYC mayor took the oath of office over the Holy Quran to be sworn in as the city’s 112th mayor. He’s said to be the second youngest. The ceremony was led by state Attorney General Letitia James.

“This is truly the honor and the privilege of a lifetime,”- Mamdani mentioned after swearing in to faithfully discharge his duties as mayor and pay the $9 filing fee in cash.
Mamdani also wished New Yorkers a very Happy New Year and mentioned how he cannot see everyone tomorrow as he begins his new term amid a lot of scrutiny and pressure.

After the ceremony, he was praised by many in attendance, including the former Department of Transport director. “I cannot think of any better person than him,” he added.
