Influencer and Catholic content creator Paul J. Kim announced the heartbreaking death of his 5-year-old son, Micah, in an emotional New Year’s Day post. Micah passed away on December 31 after an 11-day battle in the hospital.
In a video shared with followers, Kim said, “After fighting 11 long hard days, Micah went home to the house of our Father.” He thanked supporters for their prayers and asked for privacy as his family grieves, adding that the loss has been the hardest experience of his life.
Micah was hospitalized on December 21 with influenza, which later developed into sepsis. Despite intensive care, his condition worsened, and he was declared to have no brain activity before his passing on New Year’s Eve.
Kim described returning home without Micah as “heart-wrenching,” saying the house now feels painfully quiet without his laughter and energy.
Micah’s death comes amid a severe flu season in the U.S., with thousands of deaths reported. Young children have been among the hardest hit, as a mutated strain of Influenza A (H3N2) has caused unusually serious infections worldwide.
