Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck were once one of Hollywood’s most beloved couples before divorcing in 2015. Now, nearly a decade later, Garner has opened up about how difficult that breakup truly was.
Speaking to Marie Claire UK, Garner said the hardest part wasn’t public scrutiny, but “the actual breaking up of a family,” along with losing a deep partnership and friendship. She shared that she leaned heavily on close relationships to get through the pain, calling community the source of her resilience.
Garner, who shares three children with Affleck—Violet, Seraphine, and Samuel—also spoke about parenting and co-parenting, calling it the “hardest thing” for her, though she acknowledged it pales compared to global hardships. She described modern parenting as stepping back, letting children grow, and resisting the urge to control their choices.
Beyond family, Garner discussed her upcoming Apple TV+ series The Last Thing He Told Me, her charity work with Save the Children US and Once Upon a Farm, and her focus on raising her children, whom she described as “so cool.”
