ABC has canceled Taylor Frankie Paul’s season of The Bachelorette just three days before its March 22 premiere, PEOPLE confirms. A Disney spokesperson said the decision came after a newly surfaced 2023 video showing Paul allegedly throwing chairs at her ex, Dakota Mortensen, while a child was nearby.
Paul and Mortensen dated in 2022, share a 2-year-old son, Ever, and she has two other children from a previous marriage. The couple split in 2022, and filming for season 5 of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives was paused due to “serious issues” related to Paul’s past.
The Draper City Police confirmed an ongoing domestic assault investigation involving both parties. In 2023, Paul faced misdemeanor domestic violence charges, including child abuse after a chair allegedly struck her daughter. Paul has said the charges were later dropped.
Court documents and the video show the daughter was hit by a chair during an incident. Paul’s spokesperson called the video release a “reprehensible attempt” by Mortensen to manipulate public perception while disregarding the child’s well-being.
