A young girl named Alba, born with Down syndrome, was rejected by her mother and 20 adoptive families before being adopted by Luca Trapanese, a single gay man in Italy.
Despite adoption barriers for single and homosexual parents, Luca was granted custody in 2017 when Alba was just 13 days old. He later shared his story, saying it challenges stereotypes about family and fatherhood.
Having long worked with people with special needs, Luca was prepared to adopt a child with disabilities. After losing a friend at 14, he dedicated his life to helping others.
Alba brought him happiness and purpose, and today they share a loving life together—filled with play, travel, and strong father-daughter bond.
