It’s been 89 years since Amelia Earhart and her plane vanished, a mystery that may now be closer to being solved.
Pilot Justin Myers told News Nation he believes he spotted what could be Earhart’s plane on Google Earth near the South Pacific island of Nikumaroro, consistent with her likely crash site. While he hasn’t visited in person, he says the wreckage matches the size of a Lockheed Electra 10E.
Access to the island is difficult, requiring permits from the Kiribati government, but Myers remains determined to investigate the site further.
This could finally shed light on one of history’s greatest aviation mysteries.
