A 12-year-old student from Reseda High School in Los Angeles has died days after an alleged bullying incident.
According to her family, Khimberly was hit in the head with a metal water bottle by another student at school. She was treated and sent home, but later collapsed and was rushed to the hospital, where doctors found a brain hemorrhage. She later died from her injuries.
Los Angeles Police Department is investigating the case as a homicide.
In response, classmates and community members held a vigil outside the school, demanding accountability. A fundraiser has also been created to support the family.
School officials expressed condolences and said they are cooperating with authorities while offering counseling and support. The tragedy has renewed concerns about bullying and student safety.
