21-year-old Lucas Martin from the UK died from meningitis after his symptoms were mistaken for a common virus.
He initially had headaches, fever, and fatigue—typical of “fresher’s flu”—and showed none of the usual warning signs like a rash. Within days, his condition rapidly worsened, and he was rushed to hospital, placed in a coma, and sadly passed away.
Now, his family is raising awareness about how quickly meningitis can become fatal, urging others not to ignore symptoms.
In his memory, they launched a charity to help young people and spread awareness, hoping to prevent similar tragedies.
