A 38-year-old Brazilian triathlete and influencer, Mara Flávia, died after going missing during the swim portion of an Ironman race in Texas. She disappeared in Lake Woodlands shortly after the race began around 6:30 a.m., prompting emergency calls. Her body was recovered about three hours later, roughly 10 feet underwater, and she was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities confirmed she drowned and are continuing a standard investigation.
Witnesses described chaotic moments as people realized she hadn’t resurfaced. A volunteer recalled an experienced racer diving repeatedly to find her, even briefly making contact but unable to bring her up. The incident left many shaken, as Flávia was remembered for her determination to take on one of the sport’s toughest challenges.
