Alan Osmond, the eldest of Osmond Brothers, dies at 76!

Posted on April 21, 2026 By admin

Alan Osmond, the eldest brother of the iconic family group The Osmonds, has died at the age of 76. His family confirmed he passed away surrounded by his wife Suzanne and their eight sons. A cause of death has not been disclosed.

Born in 1949, Alan helped build The Osmonds from the ground up, starting as a child performer with his brothers Wayne, Merrill, and Jay before younger siblings Donny and Jimmy joined. He also helped support the wider family legacy that included Marie Osmond’s successful career.

The group became known as the “One Take Osmonds” for their precision, a necessity due to strict performance limits on child performers. Alan later became a key creative force, co-writing hits like “One Bad Apple” and “Crazy Horses,” and helping launch the group’s global fame after appearances on The Andy Williams Show.

In 1987, Alan was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, which he lived with for decades, gradually stepping back from performing after 2007. Outside music, he served in the California Army National Guard and was deeply devoted to his faith in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

He married Suzanne Pinegar in 1974, and together they raised eight sons, along with a large extended family.

Alan Osmond is survived by his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, leaving behind both a strong family legacy and a lasting impact on American music.
