Daniel, Sarah, and their son Derril moved to a new city for Sarah’s job, hoping for a fresh start. Derril was excited to join a school with a soccer program, his favorite sport. However, things took a strange turn when Derril noticed his soccer coach, Mr. Sanders, hugging his mom, which disturbed him.
At first, Sarah and Daniel were optimistic about the move. Derril seemed happy, especially since his old school focused more on baseball and basketball than soccer. But over time, Derril became withdrawn and upset, worrying his parents. One day, he confided in Daniel, saying he didn’t want Mr. Sanders to replace him as his father. He explained that he had seen the coach hug Sarah without her pushing him away.
Suspecting something was off, Daniel watched the soccer field one evening and saw Mr. Sanders and Sarah talking intimately, which made him uneasy. He confronted Sarah, who revealed that Mr. Sanders had been helping her deal with a dangerous man from his past, someone who had been stalking Sarah. Mr. Sanders had been trying to protect them without raising suspicion.
Later, Mr. Sanders confirmed the story and showed evidence of the stalker’s criminal past. As the family tried to deal with the threat, Derril saw the stalker outside their window, prompting a police response. The man was arrested, and Mr. Sanders explained that he had recognized the stalker from his past.
Though the immediate danger was gone, Daniel still felt uncomfortable and unsafe, unsure whether to trust Mr. Sanders completely. The situation left him feeling unsettled, wondering what steps to take next.
