Bears are intelligent, powerful animals—but many have suffered in cruel captivity. One of them was Caesar, a bear trapped on a bile farm in China, where she was forced to wear a painful metal vest and have bile extracted constantly for traditional medicine. Confined and wounded, she lived in horrific conditions.
In 2004, Animals Asia rescued her. Despite severe injuries, Caesar slowly recovered, becoming a strong, healthy bear who enjoyed swimming, digging, and life in a sanctuary.
Tragically, the damage from years of abuse led to an aggressive tumor, and she later passed away. Her story is a powerful reminder of both the cruelty of bile farming and the urgent need to protect the thousands of bears still suffering.
