Kristin Cabot has spoken out months after the viral Coldplay “kiss cam” moment involving her then-boss, former Astronomer CEO Andy Byron.
During the concert, the pair were shown embracing on the venue screen before quickly trying to hide, prompting Chris Martin to joke about a possible “affair.” The clip spread widely online and triggered major backlash.
Cabot, who was head of HR at Astronomer at the time, said the fallout brought intense scrutiny, criticism, and even death threats, ultimately damaging her personal life and career. Both she and Byron later stepped down from their roles.
In a recent interview on The Oprah Podcast, Cabot said she ended all communication with Byron last fall, citing dishonesty and saying “lying is a non-negotiable” for her. She declined to go into details about his relationship status, saying she didn’t want to expose others to the same public scrutiny she faced.
She told Oprah that while they stayed in contact for a period after the incident, their final meeting came in September, when they agreed to cut ties to move on.
Cabot also said the public response was disproportionately harsh toward her, adding that her appearance and private life were heavily criticized online. While she acknowledged her role in the situation, she said the backlash came at an “unimaginable price.”
