‘Doogie Howser’ Star Passed Away At 73!

Actor Rif Hutton, best known for Doogie Howser, M.D. and JAG, has died at age 73 after a battle with brain cancer.

He passed away at his home in Pasadena, surrounded by family, and is survived by his wife and son. Hutton was diagnosed in 2025 and had spoken publicly about supporting brain tumor awareness and research.

He was widely recognized for playing Dr. Ron Welch on Doogie Howser, M.D. and Lieutenant Commander Alan Mattoni on JAG. He also appeared in soap operas like The Bold and the Beautiful and General Hospital, and was known for 1990s KFC commercials.

Beyond live-action roles, Hutton had a successful voice acting career in films such as Shrek, The Princess and the Frog, and Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. Tributes have since described him as talented, generous, and deeply respected.
