Gary Burghoff, best known as Radar on MASH*, left Hollywood to focus on his family, choosing fatherhood over fame and fortune. Now 82, the Emmy-winning actor recently became a grandfather after his son Miles welcomed a baby girl, Rylee.
After turning down major TV roles and even a $4 million offer to return, Burghoff later faced financial struggles and was nearly bankrupt. He eventually reinvented himself as a wildlife painter, selling his artwork for thousands. Despite career highs on MASH*, Burghoff has said family was always more important than fame.
