Fuzzy Zoeller, a two-time major champion and one of golf’s most colorful personalities, has died at 74. No cause of death has been released.
Zoeller’s daughter confirmed the news, according to tournament officials.
He made golf history in 1979 by winning the Masters in his first appearance, still the last player to do so, and later won the 1984 U.S. Open at Winged Foot after an 18-hole playoff.
Known for his humor and relaxed style, Zoeller earned 10 PGA Tour wins and was a fan favorite for his friendly, outgoing presence on and off the course.
Beyond competition, he was involved in golf course design and business ventures, and later played on the Champions Tour.
He is survived by his wife and children. His legacy is remembered for combining top-level success with a joyful, entertaining approach to the game.
