“I’m doing what I should have done a long time ago,” I told Lenora. “Making sure the truth comes out.”
Judge Castellan opened the envelope in silence. The courtroom went still as he read the DNA results.
His expression changed immediately. “Mrs. Chandler, Marcus and Jolene are not biologically related to Mr. Chandler.”
Lenora froze.
“And Wyatt?” her lawyer asked.
“He is Mr. Chandler’s biological son,” the Judge confirmed, “but the other two are not.”
Shock spread through the room as Lenora’s deception became clear. The Judge then stated he would reconsider custody and financial support due to the fraud.
Her lawyer tried to intervene, but the Judge shut it down. “This cannot be dismissed.”
Lenora finally spoke, but her apology came too late. “Fifteen years of lies cannot be undone,” I told her.
The Judge recessed the court, and as everyone left, I stood alone, feeling both relief and loss.
