Actress Christina Applegate is releasing a new memoir, You With the Sad Eyes, which she says is “not an inspirational book.”
While promoting it, Applegate opened up about living with Multiple sclerosis, sharing that she spends most of her time in bed because movement is painful. Despite this, she makes it a priority to drive her 15-year-old daughter Sadie to school each day, calling it their special time together.
Applegate said her illness has mostly confined her to home, but it has also pushed her to be more open and honest about her struggles. That honesty is reflected in both her memoir and her podcast MeSsy, which she co-hosts with Jamie-Lynn Sigler, who also has MS.
In the book, Applegate reflects on her childhood, early fame, and health battles, including breast cancer and MS, while aiming to tell her story with raw honesty rather than offering a polished or inspirational message.
