I installed a camera in my son’s room for peace of mind, but one night I noticed a strange shadow moving across the monitor while he slept. The unexplained movement terrified me, making me fear there was something—or someone—in his room.
After replaying the footage several times, I rushed upstairs to check every corner, but found nothing. Still unsettled, I kept reviewing the camera until I decided to investigate more practically. I adjusted the curtains, lighting, camera angle, and moved reflective objects around the room.
Eventually, I realized the “shadow” was likely caused by outside light reflections and camera angles creating an optical illusion. Once everything was rearranged, the strange movement disappeared completely.
The experience reminded me that while baby monitors can provide reassurance, they can also be misleading. Sometimes what seems frightening has a simple explanation, and staying calm and logical is just as important as trusting parental instincts.
