Martha agrees to let her mother-in-law Cheryl babysit her 4-year-old daughter Beverly every Wednesday, thinking it’s a harmless favor that strengthens family bonds.
But soon, Beverly starts behaving strangely—mentioning a mysterious “friend” and repeating things that feel rehearsed. When Martha asks Cheryl, she dismisses it as imagination.
Feeling uneasy, Martha secretly installs a hidden camera.
What she sees shatters her world: Cheryl is secretly bringing in Jason’s ex-wife, Alexa, and coaching Beverly to see her as “part of the family,” even telling her to keep it from her mother.
Devastated, Martha rushes home and finds Cheryl, Alexa, and Beverly together as if they’re a replacement family. Cheryl openly admits she believes Alexa should be with Jason, and that Martha was a “mistake.”
Realizing the manipulation and betrayal, Martha takes her daughter and leaves immediately, cutting contact.
She later tells Beverly the truth in simple terms, explaining they will no longer see Cheryl or Alexa.
When Jason learns everything, he sides with Martha after seeing the evidence. Cheryl is blocked and cut off completely.
Martha decides some betrayals can’t be forgiven—and some people can’t be called family.
