The body of Oklahoma Republican state Senate candidate Barry Christian, 54, was found inside his truck in a remote area Thursday, authorities said.
Christian, who was running for District 38, had been reported missing two days earlier after failing to attend a scheduled meeting. Investigators later located his 2024 Ram truck off Highway 30 near Erick, close to a ravine in the Sandy Sanders Wildlife Management Area, where a body was discovered inside. Rough terrain delayed recovery and identification.
Officials have not determined the cause or circumstances of his death, and the investigation is ongoing.
Christian had recently been active on the campaign trail, posting an invitation to a local meet-and-greet event days before his disappearance.
His daughter said the family was “devastated” and asked for prayers, adding they are still waiting for answers and hope his legacy is treated with respect.
