Born on August 6, 1938, in Cameron County, Texas, Anderson lived a remarkable life. He served in the U.S. Army before earning multiple degrees, including studies in literature, history, economics, political science, and fine arts, with advanced education at London School of Economics and London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art.
Before acting, he taught Shakespeare, worked with Voice of America, helped build TV networks in South Vietnam during the war, and later supported media projects in Iran.
He was best known as prison guard Head Bull Haig in The Shawshank Redemption and as Burt in Gilmore Girls. Fans and friends are now sharing tributes, remembering him for his talent, kindness, and adventurous spirit.
