A South African businessman, Gabriel Batista, 59, went missing after his car became stuck while crossing the Komati River in northeastern South Africa.
Police later found his vehicle empty, launching a search operation. Four days afterward, authorities discovered a large Nile crocodile with a heavily swollen stomach, which was shot and removed from the river.
A post-mortem reportedly found human remains inside the crocodile, including body parts believed to belong to Batista, though DNA tests are still pending to confirm identity.
Officials said it is still unclear whether he drowned first or was killed in the attack. Batista, who owned a local inn and sports bar, was described by friends and customers as a well-liked family man.
His family is awaiting official confirmation before making public statements.
