In 2019, 17-year-old Jack Dunn was rushed to the hospital with severe stomach pain and trouble walking. Doctors diagnosed him with constipation, gave him laxatives, and sent him home. Just 24 hours later, his father found him dead in bed.
It was later discovered Jack was actually suffering from ketoacidosis, a life-threatening complication often linked to uncontrolled Type 1 Diabetes. His family believes a simple glucose test could have revealed the condition in time, as symptoms included breathing difficulties, fatigue, confusion, thirst, and frequent urination.
