Tess thought she was joining her husband’s family for a relaxing beach vacation, but instead, she’s handed a chore chart. From meal prep to laundry, she quickly realizes she’s been invited to serve, not to relax. After a few days of doing everything while the others lounge, she decides enough is enough. Tess secretly rewrites the chore chart to make it fair, then escapes to a quiet resort suite, leaving behind a note for her husband and his family.
Matt eventually finds her, realizing how his family has been leaning on her. They talk, and he admits he’s been blind to the situation. Tess tells him she won’t tolerate being ignored again, and he promises to be on her team moving forward. They spend the rest of the vacation together, reconnected and honest, while Tess vows to never let herself be taken for granted again.
A year later, there are no more chore charts or unspoken expectations—now, Matt checks in with her first. Tess has learned to choose herself.
