Savannah Guthrie is taking on a new role at NBC as host of an upcoming Wordle-inspired game show.
During the May 11 Today broadcast, Guthrie and Jimmy Fallon announced the project, which Fallon is executive producing in partnership with The New York Times. Guthrie called the show “fast-paced and fun,” designed to be family-friendly and educational.
Fallon praised Guthrie as the perfect host, while she joked about being chosen because of her “Wordle-inspired” style. The series is expected to begin production this summer, with casting already underway.
Guthrie also thanked NBC and producers for supporting her after a recent family crisis involving the kidnapping of her mother, noting the project brings a sense of joy during a difficult time.
