Former New York Rangers star Ron Duguay is battling Stage IV colon cancer after being diagnosed in November 2024. His daughter, Shay Thomas, revealed he had felt healthy before experiencing fatigue and stomach issues while visiting his girlfriend, Sarah Palin, in Alaska.
The cancer spread to his liver and beyond, leading to surgeries, chemotherapy, and radiation treatments. Duguay has faced severe side effects, including hair loss and skin rashes, and his family says he has been close to death several times.
Throughout the fight, Sarah Palin and Duguay’s daughters have remained by his side, helping with treatments and hospital visits. The family recently received hopeful news after Duguay was approved for a new clinical trial aimed at improving cancer-fighting T cells.
As medical costs continue to grow, the family launched a GoFundMe campaign that has raised over $109,000. Despite the setbacks, Duguay says he remains focused on recovery and hopes to one day give back to others.
