Jack Pugh, former tight end for the Wisconsin Badgers football, has died unexpectedly at the age of 24.
Pugh played for Wisconsin from 2021 to 2022 before stepping away from football in 2023 to focus on his mental health. In a past Instagram post, he openly shared his struggles with prolonged depression and substance abuse, explaining that he wanted to finally prioritize his well-being and find happiness.
Originally from Ohio, Pugh earned his place on the Badgers roster despite not playing football during his first two years of high school. Known for his humility, kindness, and positive energy, he later worked as a plumber and remained loved by friends, teammates, and family.
He is survived by his parents, Daniel and Kimberly Pugh, his brother Trey, and extended family. His family asked that donations be made to the Columbus Humane Society in his memory instead of sending flowers.
