My 8-Year-Old Son Came to Me in Tears and Said, ‘You Need to Call the Police About My Nanny!’

Running a business and raising a child isn’t easy, so my husband and I hired a nanny, Sabrina, to help. At first, she seemed like a blessing, but when my son, Jay, came to me in tears asking me to call the police on her, I knew something was wrong.

Owning Beanz Bistro had been a dream, but it came with long hours. After Wilfred suggested hiring help, I reluctantly agreed, and Sabrina, who worked at his office and loved kids, seemed perfect. When I got home, Jay greeted me excitedly, but later, he asked to stay home instead of with Sabrina. I dismissed it, thinking it was just a phase.

But then, Jay got sick one day and came home acting unusually quiet. At dinner, he nervously asked to stay with me instead of Sabrina. I sensed something was off but couldn’t get him to open up. Wilfred seemed dismissive when I mentioned it, which made me uneasy.

A week later, Jay tearfully told me Sabrina was a thief—she “stole” his dad. My heart dropped as he revealed he had seen Wilfred kissing her. Shocked, I confronted Wilfred, who admitted to the affair. My world crumbled. I demanded a divorce and told him to leave that night.

A year later, Jay and I were healing. Though the divorce was tough, we were adjusting. I’d found comfort in Daniel, a fellow divorcee. Life was moving forward, and Jay seemed happier, despite the pain of the past.

I looked at old photos of Wilfred and me, now strangers, and realized how far I had come. Though the betrayal hurt, the future was ours to write, and with Jay by my side, I was ready to embrace it.
