A Pennsylvania couple who were high school sweethearts have both died in what authorities say was a murder-suicide less than two years after their wedding.
Police say 26-year-old Ryan Hosso fatally shot his wife, 25-year-old Madeline Spatafore, inside their home in Butler early Tuesday before fleeing into nearby woods and taking his own life.
Investigators said Hosso called his parents after the shooting, confessed to killing his wife, and said he planned to die by suicide. His parents alerted authorities, who later found Spatafore dead in the home and located Hosso’s body nearby using thermal drones.
The couple married in September 2024 and were both graduates of Seneca Valley High School. Spatafore later graduated summa cum laude from Duquesne University and worked as a critical care physician assistant at UPMC Presbyterian.
Authorities have not released a motive, and the investigation remains ongoing.
