22-year-old Daniel Waterman briefly woke from a coma after a devastating car crash on Super Bowl Sunday 2025 — and what he told investigators changed the entire case. Before dying from his injuries months later, Daniel claimed his pregnant girlfriend, Leigha Mumby, intentionally crashed the car during an argument on Interstate 95 in Florida.
According to reports, Daniel said Mumby became angry after revealing her pregnancy and seeing a text from another woman on his phone. He claimed she drove recklessly, saying, “You’ll get what you deserve,” before crashing into a tree. Mumby and the baby survived, but after Daniel’s statements and eventual death, authorities upgraded her charges to vehicular homicide.
