Grayson stood in court and calmly said, “It’s not about money. It’s about love and loyalty.”
He thanked Valerie for who she had become, but made it clear that I was the one who raised him through every hard moment, every fear, and every milestone. “My mom taught me that family is the people who stay by your side when life gets hard,” he said.
The courtroom fell silent as Grayson chose to stay with the mother who had always been there for him. Even Valerie finally understood that real love can’t be replaced.
As we left the courthouse hand in hand, Grayson smiled and said, “Let’s go home, Mom.”
And those were the sweetest words I’d ever heard.
